On August 9th, as part of the We Live Here program in collaboration with Metro Vancouver, we led a biology walking event at Burnaby Lake Regional Park. Our group was welcomed by a Park Interpreter who used interactive props to introduce the diverse flora and fauna inhabiting the park. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, such as matching new vocabulary with corresponding images of plants and animals, reinforcing their learning in a fun and memorable way. Families also participated in team-building exercises designed to foster connection, collaboration, and community spirit. This event provided a well-rounded experience, blending education, outdoor exploration, and social interaction. Participants left with improved language skills, a deeper appreciation for the natural world, and meaningful new connections within the community.
