Burnaby & New Westminster
Burnaby, the third largest city in the province, is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Metro Vancouver, particularly the Burnaby-Edmonds and Burnaby Central neighbourhoods. With a quarter of its lands designated to parks and open spaces, Burnaby has one of the highest ratios of parkland to residents in North America. Located on Burnaby Mountain is Simon Fraser University, which has been ranked one of Canada's best comprehensive universities. The city is also recognized as one of the best run cities in Canada.
Burnaby's neighbour is the city of New Westminster, which is nicknamed the "Royal City". As western Canada's oldest city, it is known for its historic and heritage sites. New Westminster has maintained its small-town charm while at the same time pursuing greater local development and higher population density.
