Japan’s King of the Sea, one of the world’s largest tall ships had arrived in Richmond on May 3rd, 2017 as part of the city’s Canada 150 celebrations. April Toh and her LINC 8 AM class arrived at Garry Point Park early to welcome the ship's arrival as it pulled majestically into the dock to the drumming of Taiko. April and some of her students held hands and laughingly danced to the beat of the drum, while others waved their mini-Canada flags alongside excited primary school children. In the midst of the festive glee, April soon noticed City of Richmond’s Mayor Malcolm Brodie standing a short distance away and invited him to take a class photo with the class, which he readily agreed! Looking at all the megawatt smiles in the photo - it was clear everyone had a blast!"
