What would it be like to turn a street for cars to a place for pedestrians? How would it feel to spend a day to meet your neighbors, community organizations, local businesses, artists and performers at one giant fun-filled block party? The “Car Free Day” has been a Vancouver-grown destination event for 13 years, and it’s organized and run entirely by volunteers! Our group of newcomers came together on June 18 to immerse in this experience., Denman Street was closed to all cars and became the stage for people to relax, enjoy the local sights, sounds and tastes of the West End of Vancouver and most importantly, to take the time to connect with each other.
