On Saturday September 8th, a group of twenty eight Arabic-speaking refugees attended the Agriculture Week at Central City Plaza (located right outside Central City Shopping Centre) for a family event that ended with the annual tradition of creating BC's largest blueberry pie. It was fun to watch the pie being prepared for everyone to see and the group stayed for a slice after the ceremonial pie cutting. Kids enjoyed participating in various activities such as pony rides, face painting and the inflatable corn maze. Families enjoyed meeting other community members in an atmosphere filled with live music, as well as watching the balloon artists share their creations with kids and taking memorable pictures at the photo booth. While the event ended at 3pm, many families chose to stay and continue enjoying the free event.
