Newcomers participate in one of the oldest family events in BC.

We had the opportunity to volunteer for and participate inthe commemoration of the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway line.  It was great to participate in such a huge community event but also to learn a little about Canada’s history.  The original western terminus in Port Moody was where the “last spike” was driven. Wearing my yellow t-shirt with all the other volunteers made me feel like I belonged to my community and participated in its history. As a volunteer, I was able to see how much work goes into planning such a large community event.  I could help out but also enjoy all the music, activities and yummy food!
