First held in 1991, this one-day annual event attracted thousands of people from Metro Vancouver over the past years. The purpose of the annual Health Fair is to provide up-to-date health education on common diseases and health management to the public. It hosts health lectures, health screening and exhibition booths. The Health Fair is organized by Chinese Canadian Medical Society (BC), S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Chinese Canadian Dental Society of BC and supported by UBC iCON (interCultural Online Health Network).
Our volunteers worked in the reception area to greet clients, distribute freebies, answer inquiries and at the exhibition hall to answer inquiries, direct the traffic and take down.
“It was my first time to do volunteer work since I came to Canada in July. My mom also came with me to volunteer for this event. People here are mostly friendly, which attracts me. My mom and I will plan to do more volunteer work in the future.”
