A collaboration between Surrey SUCCESS ISIP’s “We Volunteer Here” and the City of Surrey took place at Bear Creek Park on August 13, 2018. Youth participants worked with volunteers from The City of Surrey by helping to clean up garbage in the park. Some of the tasks involved cleaning litter throughout the park and making sure that the park was in good order for visitors. The youth enjoyed getting to walk around the park and help make it a clean environment for their community. One youth commented: “It was a great experience to make the park beautiful”, and another said: “Have to keep the natural environment clean.” The City of Surrey staff were very accommodating to the youth and staff of the “We Volunteer Here” program look forward to collaborating again.
