We Volunteer Here – Burnaby/New Westminster: Hats Off Day 2019!
Hats Off Day 2019 in the Burnaby Heights neighborhood featured interactive activities that were a hit, especially our superhero photo booth and the World Map Interactive Activity. Many people passed by our booth and shared their stories of immigrating to Canada. It’s a wonderful experience introducing our services and communicating with other local community.
Some extraordinary volunteers helped us to do booth set-up, interact with the public to talk about ISIP services and distribute information. Jasmine, who volunteered in the morning, shared her story of she’s volunteering with SUCCESS ISIP, “I came to Canada from China a few years ago, which was the time that I started to volunteer. I find the volunteer experiences can help me to understand the value and spirit of Canada - contribution to our society. I also feel I’m happier when I’m volunteering. I really enjoy every moment of it!”
Another enthusiastic volunteer, Dorna who has been volunteering for two years with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Burnaby office shared, “I come to volunteer at the Burnaby office every Tuesday. I think it’s a good opportunity to learn up-to-date work procedures and practice what I’m learning from school. Volunteering experience is valuable. I’m more than happy to help people.”
