Kudos to Monina Selga and her team at Vancity for creating a strong and lasting partnership with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. ISIP!  Monina Selga, Team Manager for Vancity Visa Cardholder Care, shares a few words about how Vancity works with the Immigrant Settlement & Integration Program to help immigrants and refugees in British Columbia:

One of the biggest areas Vancity provides is helping immigrants and refugees through our financial literacy program called Each One Teach One (EOTO).

The EOTO workshops provide information so that newcomers are better prepared to make financial decisions in Canada.

We also have Vancity employees who have become mentors to SUCCESS clients. Personally, I have facilitated EOTO workshops for SUCCESS since 2008 mostly for SUCCESS Farsi and French speaking clients. During these sessions, I also talk about career opportunities at Vancity. I am very happy to share that in October, Vancity Visa Cardholder Care department hired 2 SUCCESS clients who attended my EOTO workshops. One was from Elham’s group and the other from Jean Marie’s group. Both Elham and Jean Marie are very committed to providing the best service to their clients and treat them like family. They were extremely happy to learn of their clients’ success in landing jobs at Vancity.

Like many newcomers who try to figure things on their own, I myself had a tough time trying to settle and integrate in this new country. Thank goodness for organizations like SUCCESS, that newcomers can participate in many of the programs that will help them succeed sooner.

Being a facilitator for Vancity’s EOTO has given me the opportunity to make a difference. Helping even just one person to get one step closer to success and well-being is most fulfilling.

SUCCESS and Vancity have a common goal of helping newcomers because in doing so the whole community flourishes.

Thank you Monina for your amazing support and giving back in big ways!
