CHAMPIONS OF SUCCESS is an occasion to recognize and thank volunteers and community partners in our Vancouver Region who have contributed their time, expertise and resources to support S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs that help new immigrants to integrate into Canadian society. This year, we were joined by several honoured guests who came to celebrate and thank our volunteers personally, including:
- S.U.C.C.E.S.S. CEO Queenie Choo
- S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Chair Donnie Wing
- The Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, Minister of Justice; MP for Vancouver-Granville
- The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of National Defence; MP for Vancouver South
- The Honourable George Chow, Minister of State for Trade; MLA for Vancouver-Fraserview
- Vancouver City Councillor Acting Mayor Raymond Louie
- Vancouver City Councillor Andrea Reimer
- Vancouver City Councillor Hector Bremner
Volunteers with ISIP help with front desk duties, helping to greet our clients at our service centres. They also provide informal translation, assist our language class teachers and share information and experience with newcomers. We also have volunteer career mentors, who guide newcomers through their career paths.
Jonathan Chan is one of our workshop speakers and he shared his journey and experience as a volunteer with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. with a captivated audience. Thank you to all of our ISIP Vancouver volunteers for your hard work and dedication!
