I love how Fort St. John newcomers join together to prepare delicious meals and share recipes from various cultures. I don’t like to eat alone. I learned from the other people how to be safe in the kitchen too. There are special safety rules that are new to me because I don’t have as much cooking experience as the older people who come. I even learned all the words for cooking like cutting, dicing, peeling, slicing, chopping, boiling, and baking. I feel happy when I can pretend to be on my own food show at the community kitchen. I like to explain all the food preparation procedures. It helps me practice my English. I have tried Filipino, Udin, Russian and Indian meals for the first time!
